Lighthouse Overnight Program

Did you ever wonder what it's like to live in a lighthouse, standing watch for mariners in trouble? At the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, bring along your sleeping bag and find out in our historic Hooper Strait Lighthouse. This unique program is offered to youth groups each spring and fall. In addition, overnight programs for families, couples and individuals are held throughout the summer. Please note, however, that we are not able to rent out the lighthouse or provide general accommodations.

Overnight participants will receive an introduction to Chesapeake Bay Lighthouses and Hooper Strait Lighthouse, a guided hands-on tour of the lighthouse, and a chance to perform some of the duties of a traditional lighthouse keeper. In addition to the educational activities and overnight accommodations, you will receive two days' admission to the Museum and a souvenir patch. For more details on program content, click here.
